East Coast Bodyboarding, in partnership with the USBA Tour, is proud to announce the First Annual BODYBOARDING FOR A CAUSE! Charity Bodyboarding Competition and Beach Fest, Presented by Honest Tea, to take place this Aug 16 (Rain dates Aug 17, 23, or 24) at Casino Pier in Seaside Heights, NJ.  Come rock out with your fellow bodyboarders and support some great causes in the process -- we'll be donating 100% of the proceeds to local and national charities.

There will be LOADS of prizes & giveaways, music pumping on the beach, food, and lots more for you to enjoy!  This contest will be fully sanctioned by the USBA, so you can compete for points.

Stay tuned for details on the prestigious BODYBOARDING IRONMAN competition we'll hold during this contest, to find out who the true all-around bodyboarder is!

So come one, come all, and join us to support charity and have a fun day of sponging!

How do I sign up?

Here are the simple steps:

  1. Fill out the free pre-registration info form on this site (http://ecbb.eventbrite.com/ - this lets us update you easily and keep track of registrations)
  2. Fill out our Rider Entry and Sponsorship Form (click here to download), so that we know how much you're raising
  3. Go out and get people to sponsor you in the contest, so you can RAISE MONEY for charity and WIN GEAR
  4. Bring the Rider Entry and Sponsorship Form to the contest.  Check http://www.ecbbing.com/ on the nights before the hold period to see when it will be held.

What is BODYBOARDING FOR A CAUSE!?

This is a bodyboarding contest and beach festival hosted by East Coast Bodyboarding, in partnership with the USBA tour.

The contest’s proceeds will benefit three main charities:
  • Ocean’s Harbor House

  • SurfRider

  • The American Red Cross

In addition, the winning team gets to select an additional charity to receive a portion of the proceeds.

Why sign up?

To share and promote the stoke of bodyboarding on the East Coast, and to do it for the worthy cause of your choice!

How much does it cost?

It's free to come to the beach fest.

Entry for the competition is $20.  However, if you can raise $30 from family/friends to be donated to our charities, your entry is free!  Plus, the more you raise, the more you can win!

This event is entirely to benefit charity, so 100% of the proceeds will be donated.  

How Can People Donate?

Your sponsors can make donations in three ways:

  1. Cash - they can give you cash
  2. Check - they can make a check payable to: East Coast Bodyboarding, LLC
  3. Online - they can use the form located here: http://www.ecbbing.com/donate/  Make sure that they note your name so you get credit!

When will it happen?

The contest is scheduled for August 16.  In the event of bad weather/no waves, we have rain dates of August 17, 23, and 24th.  Registration will open at 6:30am.  COME EARLY!

How can you help?

Sign up as an individual, on a team, or both.  Then tell family, friends, co-workers, anyone you think can help to sponsor you and / or your team (rider entry and sponsorship form on reverse side).


There are 3 levels of sponsorship:

  • Grom ($10-$50)

  • Ripper ($51 - $150)

  • Kahuna ($151+)


Will there be prizes?

There will be prizes.  You can win in two ways:

First, download the registration form (coming soon), and take it around to family, neighboors, and friends.  Tell them that you are competing in a bodyboarding contest for charity (to benefit Ocean's Harbor House, The Red Cross, and Surfrider, and that you'd like them to sponsor you.  The more money your sponsors give, the bigger the prize YOU can win!

  • $30 and over: Free entry and t-shirt
  • $200 and over: Free DVD and above prizes
  • $500 and over: Free pair of fins and above prizes
  • $1,000 and over: Free new board and above prizes


If you go to 20 people, and they each give you $50, that's $1,000 you just raised for charity AND you get yourself a brand new setup -- Sick!


There will be a free clinic for beginner bodyboarders, along with a beach festival during the contest, so bring family and friends!
